Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

CTOnews.com, Nov. 22, Greenpeace (Greenpeace) recently released a report entitled "outsourced" emissions-Climate Action Media Bulletin for Global leading Consumer Electronics suppliers (2023), which reports on the decarbonization efforts of 11 major suppliers working with major brands such as Apple.

One of the focuses of the report is Foxconn Group (Foxconn). Among the final assembly suppliers on the list, Foxconn has the highest greenhouse gas emissions and electricity consumption. According to statistics, in 2022, Foxconn used 98 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and greenhouse gas emissions reached 5.7 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, higher than Iceland's greenhouse gas emissions in 2021.

Lixun Precision has moved up one notch in the 2023 list to Clover, making it one of the most significant improvements among suppliers on the list. The main reason is Lixun's commitment to increase the use of clean energy to 50% by 2025. In 2022, Lixun Precision's use of renewable energy reached 24%, of which 70% came from the high-impact renewable energy procurement model.

Although Samsung Electronics set its operational goal of net zero emissions and 100% renewable energy transformation in 2022, it still lags behind in setting the transition timeline and the scope of emission reduction. In addition, Samsung Electronics still gives priority to less influential ways of purchasing renewable energy, including renewable energy certificates and local green premium systems.

Goyle and BOE are again at the bottom of the list, rated F. The two companies have not yet set targets for carbon neutralization and 100% renewable energy transformation, the process of renewable energy transformation is slow, the level of environmental information disclosure is low, and there is no policy advocacy for renewable energy transformation.
