Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizens, soft media new friends 1933769, Xiao Zhan cut the clues delivery! CTOnews.com, November 21, P2C Digital Alliance, launched by ITU, aims to promote meaningful global connectivity and digital transformation, focusing on remote communities that lack digital connectivity. Huawei announced last year that it would join the P2C Digital Alliance, promising to provide connectivity to the digital society for about 120 million people in remote areas of more than 80 countries by the end of 2025.
Huawei said today that it has provided 90 million people in remote parts of the world with the ability to connect to the digital society. This is the first time Huawei has announced progress since joining the Partner2Connect (P2C) digital alliance of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) last year. Huawei said it would deepen its cooperation with international institutions such as ITU to continue to promote the integration of remote areas into the digital age.
Liang Hua, chairman of Huawei, introduced the progress of P2C at the 2023 Huawei Sustainable Development Forum with the theme of "tamping digital infrastructure to promote sustainable development".
Liang Hua revealed that over the past three decades, Huawei and operators have built more than 1500 networks, helping more than 3 billion people in more than 170 countries and regions connect. Especially in remote rural areas, through RuralStar, RuralLink and other solutions, we can achieve minimalist deployment of no computer room, no optical fiber, no electricity.
At the meeting, Huawei and ITU launched the ITU-Huawei connected Generation Youth leadership Program to further expand the coverage of digital connections and train future leaders. The youth leadership program lasts for three years and applications will be opened next year. Each year, the program will select 30 winners from aspiring young people between the ages of 18 and 28 around the world to support their projects to use digital technology for community development.
CTOnews.com has learned that according to the latest ITU report, only 5 per cent of the world's population lives in areas without Internet coverage. However, up to now, 33 per cent of the world's nearly 2.6 billion people do not have access to the Internet, most of them from developing countries and poor rural areas.
