At the Wuzhen Summit of the 2023 World Internet Congress, Qualcomm won the "World Internet Congress leading Science and Technology Award" for its Snapdragon X75. Snapdragon X75 is the world's first 5G Advanced-ready modem and RF system, which can quickly support a number of new features of the 5G standard.

5G has experienced three versions of Release 15, 16 and 17, and is evolving to the 18,19,20 version of Release where 5G Advanced is located. As one of the key companies involved in the development of the 5G standard, Qualcomm is promoting the evolution of the 5G standard in a number of key directions, including faster 5G transmission speeds, such as millimeter waves; a wider range of 5G terminals, such as low-power, low-cost, low-complexity Internet of things terminals supported by RedCap technology; and non-terrestrial networks (NTN) that include satellite communications.

Faster speed is one of the achievements of the continuous progress of mobile communication technology. Qualcomm has made a lot of efforts to push 5G to a faster speed, especially in the 5G standard to actively promote the development of millimeter wave technology. In October, Qualcomm partnered with Nokia Bell to achieve a downlink rate exceeding 10Gbps 10 Gigabit per user based on 5G NR independent network dual connection, using 5G millimeter wave band 4X200MHz carrier channel and Sub-6GHz band 100MHz bandwidth. In addition, Qualcomm also realizes the ultra-high speed of 7.5Gpbs in the Sub-6GHz band. The above tests are all based on the test terminal equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon X75.

5G is not only faster, the vision of 5G also includes connecting everything, and realizing this vision requires a large number of low-cost Internet of things terminals. Qualcomm promotes the development of 5G RedCap technology in the 5G standard. By simplifying the 5G NR broadband to 5G NR-Light, the bandwidth can be reduced to 20 MHz of the Sub-7GHz band and 100 MHz of the millimeter wave band, and supports single-receiver, half-duplex and other low-complexity features, as well as lower transmission power, so that low-cost, low-complexity Internet of things devices can also access the 5G network. 5G RedCap technology has a wide application prospect in the fields of Internet of things, industrial Internet, intelligent transportation and so on.

There is also non-terrestrial network (NTN), which is one of the most attractive technologies at this stage. In 5G standard version Rel 17, Qualcomm promotes the development of 5G NTN technology from two different subdivision directions. One is to use 5G NR framework to carry out satellite communication, which can realize fixed wireless access (FWA) backhaul from ground to satellite, which can provide low-speed data transmission and voice services for smart phones, and the other is satellite access to low-complexity eMTC and NB-IoT terminals, such as helping to realize real-time positioning and tracking of containers around the world. From satellite communications to the Internet of things, under the active promotion of Qualcomm and other technology enterprises, non-terrestrial network (NTN) will accelerate large-scale applications.

At present, Xiaomi and iQOO have launched 5G flagship phones based on Qualcomm Snapdragon X75, and many Chinese manufacturers such as Mobile Communications, Mega Intelligence and Guanghetong have launched 5G modules equipped with Snapdragon X75. These terminal devices empowered by Qualcomm technology will support a wide range of industries to enter the 5G Advanced era rapidly and contribute to the high-quality development of the digital economy in China and the world as a whole.
