If the agreement is reached smoothly, Tesla may start importing electric cars from India next year. In addition, Tesla is also considering building factories in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu within two years.

A person familiar with the matter at Tuyuan Pexels said the two sides were likely to announce the news at the dynamic global summit in Gujarat in January.

Another source said that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's hometown of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu are all under consideration because they already have sound electric vehicles and export ecosystems.

According to reports, the initial minimum investment of Tesla Super Factory is about US $2 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about RMB 14.34 billion) and hopes to buy up to US $15 billion of auto parts from India.
