Portugal has broken the world record for the use of wind, hydropower or solar renewable energy for six consecutive days, CTOnews.com reported on November 21.

CTOnews.com note: between 4:00 local time on October 31 and 9:00 on November 6, the country of 10 million people is 100 per cent totally dependent on renewable energy, generating 1102 GWh of electricity.

The news comes as many European countries are trying to meet the climate targets of the Paris Agreement by 2050.

Miguel Prado, an expert in the Portuguese energy sector who reports for KuaiBao, said: "in my opinion, the key conclusion is that it shows that the Portuguese grid is ready for a very high share of renewable power and its expected changes."
