Recently, the Serverless team released a milestone new feature product that supports application-level monitoring and Dashboard resource management. Let's take a look!

New features of Serverless Dashboard 1. Application management

The released application management page uses Component as the granularity, aggregates all the resources deployed by Serverless Framework, and shows the instance status, access links and the last deployment information. In addition, operations such as deleting Serverless applications and downloading project codes for secondary development are also supported in the management details, making it more convenient and centralized for developers to manage Serverless applications under the account. One of the features of Serverless Framework is that it can easily link associated cloud resources, so different Serverless Component may link different cloud resources, such as gateways, cloud functions, COS and so on. It is believed that many partners want to know the specific resource information created by each Component when they are engaged in secondary development.

In the deployment details page of this release, you can see not only the basic information of Serverless instances, but also the input and output information of Serverless Component on the output (output) page. Through this page, you can view the corresponding resource configuration, such as: region information, resource id, locale used, supported protocol information and so on. With this page, you can intuitively see the corresponding resource configuration, no longer worry about confusing configuration between different applications.

3. Application level monitoring

Serverless Framework currently supports one-click deployment of a variety of Web frameworks. After deployment, it is believed that many developers will want to view application-level monitoring data. This is often difficult to reflect in the monitoring of basic resources.

Then the most eye-catching capability of this release is to support the monitoring page at the application level and realize the display of the monitoring indicators of the "0" configuration. Application-level monitoring of Express.js Component is currently supported. There is no need to go to the consoles of multiple products to view monitoring, no need to self-report data, no need to use third-party APM plug-ins, just one deployment, immediately check the monitoring information of Express applications!

The current Express.js component monitoring mainly supports the following metrics:

Function triggers / errors: function invocations & errors

Function delay: function latency

Number of API requests / errors: api requests & errors

API request delay: api latency

Number of API 5xx errors: api 5xx errors

Number of API 4xx errors: api 4xx errors

API error count: api errors

Statistics of request method, number of requests and average delay of API under different paths: api path requests

Because Serverless Dashboard is based on the new version of Serverless Component development, it also supports the features of the new version of Serverless Component:

[low threshold] Interactive one-click deployment guidelines: for new users, you only need to enter the serverless command on the terminal to quickly deploy an Express or static website application according to the guide.

[fast deployment] it only takes 5-6 seconds to deploy an Express.js application to the cloud, so that local and cloud code can be synchronized smoothly and quickly.

[reusable] supports cloud registry, where each developer can contribute his or her own components to the registry to facilitate team reuse.

"Real-time log view" supports real-time output of request logs, errors and other information during the deployment phase. It also supports detection of local code changes and automatic deployment of cloud code to facilitate cloud code development.

[cloud debugging] for Node.js applications, you can enable cloud debug with one click to debug the break points of cloud code, thus realizing the ability to develop and debug in the cloud without considering the inconsistency between the local environment and the remote environment.

[status sharing] Storage of application deployment status through cloud deployment engine makes it easy for accounts and teams to share resources and collaborate on development.

The application-level monitoring of Express.js framework is mainly based on Tencent Cloud's custom monitoring capability. In the process of deployment, Serverless SDK is used in the framework to collect application-level monitoring information for custom reporting and display. Therefore, users can do "0" configuration to view application-level monitoring metrics. Really achieve rapid deployment of an out-of-the-box Serverless application framework.
