CTOnews.com November 21 news, IT industry market research firm TrendForce released the latest global SSD shipments report. Global SSD shipments fell 10.7 per cent to 114 million in 2022 compared with the same period last year, according to the report.

According to the report, the various supply and demand problems plaguing the SSD industry have been basically solved in 2022, especially the limited supply of SSD master control.

The top three shipments of SSD in 2022 are Kingston, Weigang and Rexa, among which Kingston and Weigang continue to maintain a solid advantage, and their market share is higher than that in 2021.

Kingston has been taking root in the industrial control and OEM markets to expand and strengthen its control.

Rexa's growth is due to an active boost to revenue growth in the expected listing.

In 2022, Jintaike made great progress in the expansion of industrial control and OEM market, thus increasing its shipments and market share.

While maintaining a competitive advantage in the SSD market, Ranco has won a number of orders in the enterprise SSD field, with the same market share and ranking as the previous year, ranking No. 5.

With the cost advantage of domestic master and NAND Flash, Seven Rainbow went against the market, and its shipments continued to grow and climbed to the sixth place.

Through extensive international channel development, PNY withstood the test of the market downturn and re-entered the top 10, ranking No. 7.

Taiwan Power's market share was the same as in 2021, rising to eighth place.

Gigabyte benefits from the game market, maintaining the market share of shipments and ranking ninth.

Creative ideas ranked 10th, focusing on maintaining the profitability of niche products in the industrial control market, rather than chasing higher shipments.

CTOnews.com found that the combined market share of the top five SSD brands increased from 53 per cent to 59 per cent in 2022. At the same time, Kingston clearly dominates, close to controlling nearly 1/3 of the market.

TrendForce said that the global economy is still in trouble in 2023, and SSD module manufacturers have been gradually reducing the pressure on high-cost inventory through continuous smooth procurement, thus taking a strong position in price-competitive shipments. In addition, as a result of significant production cuts by NAND Flash suppliers, the overall market reversed rapidly at the end of the third quarter of 2023, with SSD first reflecting rising costs, benefiting module manufacturers with lower inventory costs.
