CTOnews.com, Nov. 21, AMD released the Thread Ranger 7000 series processor in October, which will be officially released on November 21. This series of processors need to be used with the new WRX90 or TRX 50 motherboard, and the memory needs to be R-DIMM.

Thread Ripper 7000 series processors are based on Zen 4 architecture, up to 96 cores of 192 threads, a total of 6 models.

The thread tearing 7000 PRO processor is oriented to the workstation system, with a choice of 12-core 7945WX to 96-core 7995WX at a frequency of 5.3GHz. This series of processors has 128 PCIe 5.0channels, L3 cache reaches 384MB, and supports 8-channel DDR5-5200 memory.

The Thread Ripper 7000 processor is designed for high-performance desktop systems with a choice of 24-core 7960X to 64-core 7980X at a frequency of 5.3GHz. This series of processors have 48 PCIe 5.0channels, L3 cache up to 256MB, and support 4-channel DDR5-5200 memory.

The ban on media comments on Thread Ripper 7000 series processors has been lifted today. CTOnews.com summarizes the reviews of several media, such as ComputerBase and AnandTech, as follows:

At present, the release of the media evaluation is mainly for the thread ripper 7000 processor for high-performance desktop systems. AnandTech and ComputerBase released 32-core and 64-core Ryzen Threadripper 7970X and 7980X respectively.

The AMD chip performs best in 3D rendering and performs well in Cinebench, V-Ray, Blender and other tests. In terms of video coding, these chips have had a mixed performance, losing to their main competitor, the 56-core Intel Xeon W9-3495X, as well as the regular Ryzen 7000 and 14th-generation Intel Core desktop processors.

There are also mixed results in scientific computing and modeling. But in the task of working with AI, the AMD processor lost to Intel's above-mentioned competitors.

ComputerBase also tested the game performance of the new Thread Ripper, thinking that it was at the level of Ryzen 7000 focus Core i5-12600K or even Core i7-12700K.

In game mode, when only 16 cores are active and the rest are closed, the new product can even approach Core i9-12900K because of the higher frequency.

In terms of power consumption, the Ruilong Threadripper 7970X and 7980X can consume 83 and 95W, respectively, even when idle. The maximum load provided in the Prime95 test causes the power consumption of the chip to increase to 484W and 493W in the ComputerBase test.
