CTOnews.com, November 21 (Xinhua) according to the latest report released by market research firm Counterpoint Research, smartphone shipments in Europe fell 11% in the third quarter of 2023, including 8% in Western Europe and 15% in Eastern Europe.

Commenting on the overall market, research analyst Harshit Rastogi said:

Smartphone shipments in the third quarter of 2023 were the lowest since 2011.

However, some mobile phone manufacturers are gaining a foothold, such as the TECNO and Infinix brands (which perform particularly well in the Russian market) and Glory doing well in Western Europe.

Although the market share of top manufacturers remains basically unchanged, Chinese mobile phone manufacturers are switching rankings.

Samsung: Samsung fell 15% year-on-year to its lowest shipments in the third quarter of 2011. The decline has been mitigated by the introduction of its new folding device, which has been warmly welcomed in the region.

Apple: Apple's shipments fell 3% in the third quarter, with a share of 24%, and hit the lowest third-quarter shipments since 2014. Due to pent-up upgrade demand for the iPhone 15 series, OEM is likely to take the lead next quarter.

Xiaomi: Xiaomi fell 13% in the third quarter of 2023, with 22% of the entire European market and 35% of the eastern European market.

Glory: glory is the only brand in the top five with year-on-year growth, and glory is getting closer to the level before it is spun off from Huawei and enters the top five. The brand is likely to grab market share from other Chinese handset makers such as OPPO.

Transmission: sales of the sound brands TECNO and Infinix have soared in the region, up 192 per cent and 518 per cent, respectively, with Russia being their main market. Competition among Chinese handset makers will intensify in the coming quarters, even if parallel imports maintain the Samsung and Apple markets.

OPPO:OPPO 's uncertainty in the region is reflected in its shipments, which fell 23 per cent year-on-year. However, the Eastern European market grew by 27 per cent. The brand is likely to face more problems in western Europe in the coming quarters.
