CTOnews.com, November 21 (Xinhua)-- Apple announced a partnership with the American Automobile Association (AAA) to expand its satellite SOS service at a special event this fall. Users in the United States purchase and activate the new iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 series models and receive free emergency SOS and road rescue services for a period of 2 years.

The road rescue service is currently limited to the United States, and users of the new iPhone 14x15 series can contact the rescue via satellite service if they run out of gas or have a flat tire in an area where there is no signal.

When you connect, a screen will pop up a short option to learn about the basic details that can be transmitted to AAA by satellite, and then AAA will send you a message directly and send someone to your location.

YouTube channel Brian Tong shares the actual experience of satellite road rescue in a video shared recently.

To use this feature, open the Info application and start sending new messages. Next, enter "roadside" in the address field. If the cellular network or Wi-Fi network is not covered in the user's area, the "Road Rescue" option will be popped out automatically.

The user then follows the on-screen instructions to connect your iPhone to the Globalstar satellite and ask AAA for help. According to Apple, you need to see the sky and horizon clearly outside.
