CTOnews.com, Nov. 20-Emmett Shear, interim chief executive of OpenAI, vowed on Monday to hire an independent investigator to investigate the sudden ouster of co-founder Sam Altman and to reform the management team over the next 30 days in a bid to restore trust in the US start-up after a dramatic weekend.

Emmett Shear, a former CEO and co-founder of Twitch, has been appointed interim CEO of OpenAI to succeed Altman. Earlier today, Microsoft, a supporter of OpenAI, said Altman would join the company to lead a new advanced artificial intelligence research team.

OpenAI's board sent a memo to employees saying that Emmett Shear "has unique skills, expertise and relationships that will drive OpenAI forward" and said it was "the only way to advance and defend OpenAI's mission".

CTOnews.com previously reported that OpenAI announced on the 17th that CEO Sam Altman would leave the company, saying that Altman's departure was the result of a thoughtful review process by the board of directors. "he is not always honest in his communication with the board, which hinders the board's ability to perform its duties," and the board no longer believes in his ability to continue to lead OpenAI.
