In response to netizens' questions, Mikhail Parakhin, the current CEO of Microsoft's Bing business and former chief technology officer of Yandex, said that plug-in functions, code interpreters and PDF uploads are progressing smoothly, and these new features may appear on Copilot soon.

In August, Microsoft launched internal testing of the Bing Chat plug-in for a small number of users, but the feature was quietly offline some time ago due to performance or quality problems, and then re-launched testing earlier this month.

Several users reported that they found that Bing Chat on desktops and mobile devices had updated support for third-party plug-ins, but this feature was only available in Microsoft Edge Canary, and the first batch supported only five plug-ins, with a list of plug-ins attached to CTOnews.com:

Kayak: this is a plug-in that can help users easily book flights and can be used to plan travel. However, Microsoft is unable to place orders directly for the time being, and it can only provide advice at the moment.

Klarna: price comparison plug-in that allows US users to compare historical product prices with multi-platform prices.

OpenTable: a plugin for booking restaurants.

Shop: plug-ins for comparing prices and buying products.

In addition, these plug-ins are now running significantly faster. Microsoft has previously revealed that its Bing Chat has made infrastructure upgrades to AI features, which seems to explain why plug-ins are performing better now.

Microsoft also said that no more than three plug-ins can be used in a conversation. If you want to switch between plug-ins, you need to open a new conversation topic.

It is worth mentioning that Microsoft said that Copilot may support more plug-ins in the future. Microsoft has previously said that new ChatGPT plug-ins will be gradually added to Copilot, which means that you will be able to experience more third-party plug-ins at some point in the future.
