CTOnews.com Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported in his latest issue of Power On that Apple had planned to ship its first headset, the Apple Vision Pro, in January 2024, but the company is still working on distribution plans and final device testing for the product.

Apple officials say the Apple Vision Pro will be available in the United States early next year. Gurman said he now expects the device to launch "around March."

The Apple Vision Pro will be available in the U.S. first, then in other countries and regions in 2024, and Apple is expected to sell the device through Apple retail stores and Apple online stores.

The device won't be sold at third-party retailers because Apple wants to orchestrate the launch experience of its new wearable platform. Retail stores also need to stock hundreds of different SKUs, such as headbands and prescription lenses in different size.

Apple's software team is gearing up for the Vision Pro launch, and the latest beta version of visionOS includes introductory video tutorials, material typically created late in the software development cycle. The current iOS 17.2 beta also includes Vision Pro features, such as the ability to shoot spatial video on the iPhone 15 Pro.

Apple is expected to hold another media event ahead of the Vision Pro's launch, detailing the apps and features of the headset, which starts at $3499 (CTOnews.com notes: currently about 25263 yuan).
