Last night, Sam received a text message from chief scientist Ilya Saskeville (Ilya Sutskever) asking for a conversation at noon on Friday. Sam attended a Google Meet meeting and the whole board of directors was present except Greg. Elijah told Sam that he would be fired, and the news would soon get out.

At 12:19, Greg received a text message from Elijah asking for a quick call back.

At 12:23, Elijah sent a Google Meet link. Greg was told that he would be removed from the board (but he was vital to the company and would retain his position) and that Sam had been fired. At about the same time, OpenAI published a blog post.

The management team soon realized this, except for interim CEO Mira Murati (Mira Murati), who had discovered it the night before.
