The new Ultrastar DC HC680 SMR HDD has a capacity of up to 28TB, providing higher storage density for very large-scale clouds, cloud service providers, and enterprise customers. The product is designed for sequentially writing workloads with storage density, energy consumption per TB, and cost as key considerations, and its target application scenarios include mass storage, online backup, smart video, online archiving, cloud storage, compliance storage, big data storage, and other applications that may not access data very often. More and more customers are optimizing the stack to take advantage of SMR technology. Based on this, they can continue to maintain their advantage in terms of time-to-market speed by expanding their portfolio deployment with lower power consumption by adopting higher-capacity HDD products currently on the market.

28TB Ultrastar ™DC HC680 SMR HDD

24TB Ultrastar DC HC580 CMR HDD

Ultrastar DC HC580 24TB CMR HDD is equipped with enhanced OptiNAND technology, which continues to promote large-scale innovation and achieve a new breakthrough in data storage density, enabling data center customers to increase storage capacity in the same footprint and limited power environment. HC580 HDD can provide the original storage capacity of single-rack 612TB1 in a 4U, 102-bit platform, achieving higher storage density. Compared with Western Digital's 22TB HDD products, the new 24TB CMR HDD is more energy efficient, reducing energy consumption per TB by about 12%.

24TB Ultrastar DC HC580 CMR HDD

Ultrastar DC HC680 and HC580 HDD are currently being validated by some very large cloud, cloud service providers, and OEM customers, and can also be supplied to large enterprise customers who want greater storage capacity at lower power consumption per TB to build more efficient storage systems and data centers.

Ultrastar DC HC680 and HC580 HDD SAS versions will be available in the first quarter of 2024, the third quarter of Western Digital & Johnson's fiscal year 2024.

Ultrastar Data60 and Data102 hybrid storage platform

The new Ultrastar HDD series has been validated and integrated into Western Digital's Ultrastar Data60 and Data102 JBOD hybrid storage platform as a key building block in designing a next-generation classified and software-defined storage (SDS) infrastructure. Each storage platform is equipped with unique IsoVibe ™and ArcticFlow ™technologies to improve storage performance and reliability. Ultrastar Data60 and Data102 platforms with the new HDD will go on sale next month.

WD Gold ™24TB1 CMR HDD

Western Digital is shipping 24TB WD Gold CMR SATA HDD for channel merchants. The HDD product is designed for system integrators and distributors who provide services to large and small and medium-sized enterprises. These large and medium-sized enterprises need big data and enterprise workload storage solutions that are more reliable than traditional client HDD. Based on the innovation of the Ultrastar technology platform, WD Gold 24TB HDD has up to 2.5 million hours of MTBF (expected) and anti-seismic technology, can handle 550TB / year workloads and provides a 5-year limited warranty.
