CTOnews.com, November 17 (Xinhua) Samsung recently sent a letter to British consumers saying that hackers took advantage of loopholes in third-party business applications (unpublished) to steal the personal information of customers of Samsung's UK stores between July 1, 2019 and June 30, 2020.

Samsung said in the letter that the system was not discovered to have been compromised until November 13, 2023, three years later, and that the names, phone numbers, postal addresses and e-mail addresses of the affected users may have been leaked.

A Samsung spokesman translated by CTOnews.com read as follows: "there is no evidence that the data stolen by the hackers contains the user's bank or credit card details or customer passwords", adding that the company has reported the problem to the Office of the Information Commissioner (ICO).

ICO spokeswoman Adele Burns (Adele Burns) confirmed to TechCrunch that UK data protection regulators were aware of the incident and "will investigate". The incident is the third data breach disclosed by Samsung in the past two years.
