According to the report, as of September this year, the total number of related technology patent applications worldwide has reached 4165032. Among them, the number of applications in China was 1709581, accounting for more than 40%. From 2013 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of patent applications in related fields in China was 25.11%, more than twice the average annual growth rate of global patent applications.

In the past decade, in the field of patents, Chinese Internet science and technology enterprises have moved from following and catching up to leading breakthroughs. The report ranks three Chinese technology companies in the top 10 according to the number of patents valid for next-generation Internet key technologies of global enterprises, with Tencent at the top with 26980 patents.

According to the analysis of the report, the rapid growth of patents for China's next-generation Internet technology is due to the in-depth promotion of national macro strategies such as "integration of data and reality", as well as the continuous investment of many science and technology enterprises in research and development to promote innovation in key technological areas. At present, the proportion of R & D investment of Chinese enterprises in the whole society has exceeded 3x4.

The all-China Federation of Industry and Commerce released data on R & D investment in private enterprises in 2022, with Tencent 61.4 billion yuan, Ali 53.8 billion yuan and Baidu 23.3 billion yuan, ranking in the top three.
