CTOnews.com, November 17, Unity today demonstrated the new Unity 6 engine to developers in Unite 2023 and the production of "Fantasy Kingdom" Demo using Syncy Studios to emphasize the engine's performance and graphics improvements.

Officials say the performance of Unity has been significantly improved thanks to GPU resident rendering (GPU Resident Drawer), GPU occlusion culling (GPU Occlusion Culling) and spatio-temporal post-processing (Spatial-Temporal Post-Processing,STP).

With adaptive probe volume (Adaptive Probe Volumes) and enhanced SpeedTree integration, the engine can provide more immersive, natural lighting scenes and vegetation details.

CTOnews.com also found that Unity 6 also comes with a new WebGPU graphics backend that allows players to run games in Web views in browsers and native applications.

In addition, in Unite 2023, officials have introduced a new version of Unity Cloud, which is said to be an integrated "ecosystem of products and services, making gaming 3D work more creator-centric, with an emphasis on accessibility and connectivity", including Unity Asset Manager, Unity DevOps, centralized team management, editor integration, and improved Dashboard UI.

Unity also showed an improved version of the AI tool Muse, and Muse will introduce Behavior, Animate and Sketch features in 2024. Among them, the behavior function allows developers to instantly set up role interaction and create a behavior tree in the editor; the animation function adds animation to the humanoid character through several text prompts; and the sketch function allows developers to jointly create scene sketches on the Web, and then import them into the editor.

Muse is currently in the early stages of visiting (scheduled to end in the spring of 2024) with a monthly fee of $30; Sentis is still in free public testing and will be fully launched with the official release of Unity 6 in 2024.

Untiy also introduces an AI tool called and Sentis, which allows developers to import AI models while Unity is running, thus creating an AI-based NPC. What makes Sentis unique is that the AI model ends up running locally on user devices and does not require developers to configure additional cloud servers.
