In addition, the production of 28 TB HDD using stacked magnetic recording (SMR) technology is also increasing and will be used by specific customers.

According to reports, the new 24 TB model 3.5in mechanical hard drive, including Ultrastar DC HC580 and WD Gold, uses a 10-disk design, adds Western Digital ePMR and OptiNAND technology, and has slightly faster performance and higher energy efficiency than the previous generation.

As previously reported by CTOnews.com, Western Digital launched 22TB's 3.5in mechanical hard drives in China last year, including HC570 enterprise hard drives and a series of WD Gold, WD Red Pro and WD Purple Pro mechanical hard drives. At present, the price of Western Digital 22TB gold plate is 5799 yuan, and that of 22TB red disk Pro is 5499 yuan.

The Western Digital gold disk with 24TB capacity is expected to go on sale at retail in the near future.
