CTOnews.com, November 16, one of the major power consumption features of Apple's iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max is 120Hz's ProMotion display, which dynamically adjusts the refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz according to the contents of the screen.

But if you want to turn off this feature to extend battery life, is it worth it? New tests show that the effect is not obvious.

Macworld's Jason Cross conducted some tests on this, limiting the screen refresh rate to 60Hz in accessibility settings, and first tested the battery of Geekbench 4, which showed that the battery life increased by about 5%. He also conducted another test that was closer to the actual use, constantly browsing Instagram and reddit, and finally got similar results. He concluded that shutting down ProMotion would save some electricity, but it wasn't worth sacrificing fluency.

However, CTOnews.com noted that he also said that the only way to see a significant difference in battery life is when playing games that support 120fps. He noticed that when ProMotion was turned off to play these games, the power consumption was about half what it was when it was turned on.

Therefore, it is not necessary to turn off ProMotion in general, except when you are playing games and want to save power.
