CTOnews.com, Nov. 16, Samsung Electronics's cooperation with BOE seems to have come to an end. Samsung Electronics has removed BOE from its supply chain, according to Businesskorea. BOE, Samsung's LCD panel supplier, provided Samsung with 10 per cent of TV panels in the first quarter of 2023. In the third quarter of 2023, however, Samsung's device experience (DX) division removed BOE from its TV and display panel supply chain.

In addition, it is reported that Samsung Electronics plans to sever ties with BOE in the medium to long term. Samsung's decision has had a negative impact on BOE, which lost market share in the third quarter. Market watchers believe Samsung Electronics's decision to cut ties with BOE and remove the company from its panel supply chain is related to the ongoing legal dispute between Samsung display and BOE.

CTOnews.com noted that earlier this year, Samsung display launched an International Trade Commission (ITC) investigation into Chinese wholesalers, alleging that they used stolen patents and technologies to make and sell "cloned" organic light emitting diode (OLED) panels. Although Samsung did not target BOE directly, the investigation continued to expand, and ITC began to investigate the BOE deal.

A few months later, BOE responded by filing a number of lawsuits against Samsung's branches in China. In November, Samsung monitors filed an ITC complaint directly against BOE for the first time since the conflict began.

According to industry insiders, Samsung Electronics wants to strengthen cooperation with other suppliers, including LG, Sharp and AUO, probably because Samsung feels that the conflict between its display division and BOE has brought too many unstable and unpredictable factors to its supply chain.
