In the national scientific and technological innovation exhibition area of the High-tech Fair, this new type of lithium battery is placed in a low-temperature test chamber, which can still output stable electricity even at the temperature of minus 20 degrees Celsius to minus 60 degrees Celsius. Drive the electrical appliance next to it to work properly. The secret of this kind of lithium battery is that it uses a new type of aluminum-based composite anode material. After 10 years of research and development, this material solves the problem that traditional lithium battery is easy to produce lithium dendrite at low temperature, and improves the safety and charge-discharge performance of the battery.

According to Tang Yongbing, director of the Advanced Energy Storage Technology Research Center of the Shenzhen Advanced Technology Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, traditional lithium-ion batteries use graphite-like anode materials, which have a single diffusion path of lithium ions at low temperatures, which can easily lead to the formation of lithium dendrites, thus affecting battery performance and life, and even causing safety risks such as battery short circuits. The new aluminum-based composite anode material can diversify the diffusion path of lithium ion, greatly reduce the risk of lithium dendrite, but also improve the electrical conductivity of the battery, so that it can charge and discharge quickly.

Tang Yongbing said that this new type of lithium battery increases the energy density by 13% to 25% compared with traditional lithium-ion batteries, and also has obvious advantages in terms of battery life.

CTOnews.com learned that this new lithium-ion battery technology has completed large-scale production on May 24, 2022, and related products can be used in photovoltaic energy storage, rail transit, polar scientific research and many other fields in the future, and will hopefully solve the problems such as shrinking range of new energy vehicles in winter and difficulties in starting at low temperature.
