In the past two weeks, the scientific experimental side has completed the inspection of biological samples, and the results show that the returned samples are in good condition, indicating that the space radiation biology device has successfully completed the exposure experiments of the first batch of samples.

According to the National Space Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CTOnews.com note: hereinafter referred to as the "Space Center"), the space radiation biology device, a general basic experimental facility for the space station designed and developed by the Space Center and Dalian Maritime University, was installed on the Mengtian module exposure platform of the Chinese space station on June 10, 2023.

The device includes the central control subsystem, the environmental measurement subsystem, the sample health protection subsystem and the sample observation subsystem. The space center is responsible for the hardware development of the device. The central control subsystem, environmental measurement subsystem and sample health protection subsystem are developed, which are responsible for the system integration and testing of the device. Dalian Maritime University has developed a sample observation subsystem.

The space radiation biology device contains biological samples of nematodes, plant seeds, microorganisms and organic molecules from Dalian Maritime University, Xiamen University, Northwest Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences and other research units.

In the harsh environment of extravehicular vacuum, high and low temperature changes, solar radiation and micrometeors, the device provides the necessary temperature and gas environment for all kinds of samples, continuously monitors the environmental status of samples and samples, and measures space radiation and solar ultraviolet data. the function and performance of the device have been verified.

After completing the three-month exposure experiment, in mid-September, the space radiation biology device began the process of retrieving the cabin from outside the cabin. As the first return load of the space station in China, the return process is faced with many uncertain factors. With the organization and close cooperation of the Astronaut Center, the Beijing Flight Control Center, the General Department of Space applications, the Fifth Aerospace Academy and the eighth Academy, the space radiation biology device returned to the cabin on September 13 and 14, and the astronauts took biological samples from the space radiation biology exposure experimental device.

On September 16 and 17, the space radiobiology device was successfully installed out of the cabin and installed on the exposure platform to continue the longer exposure experiment of the remaining samples.
