CTOnews.com, November 16, according to CCTV news, the nuclear island of Unit 1 of Liaoning Xudapu Nuclear Power Station, the northernmost nuclear power plant in China, began construction on November 15.

According to reports, the Xudabao nuclear power project is one of the largest clean energy projects invested in Liaoning during the 14th five-year Plan period and the core support for Huludao to build a clean energy industry cluster.

Six million kilowatt pressurized water reactor nuclear power units are planned to be built at Xudapu Nuclear Power Station, and it is estimated that after every two units are completed, the annual generating capacity will exceed 16 billion kilowatt hours.

Among them, the work of Unit 3 and Unit 4 is progressing smoothly as planned; the total investment of Unit 1 and Unit 2 is more than 48 billion yuan. After the start of the nuclear island project of Unit 1, the project will enter the stage of comprehensive construction. The two units are scheduled to be put into operation in 2028 and 2029 respectively.

CTOnews.com inquiry learned that on November 6, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment released news that the State Nuclear Safety Administration decided to issue the "Liaoning Xudabao Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1 Construction license" and the "Liaoning Xudabao Nuclear Power Plant Unit 2 Construction license" to CNNRC Liaoning Nuclear Power Plant.
