CTOnews.com, November 16 (Xinhua)-- the weighted average retail price (US-WARP) of iPhone in the U.S. market fell again in the third quarter of 2023, to $918 from $948 in the previous quarter, according to a recent report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP).

Apple stopped releasing the average selling price (ASP) information of the iPhone in 2018, and the CIRP survey is limited to the US market, but you can see that average selling prices have fallen for two consecutive quarters.

In the September quarter of 2023, US-WARP was $918, down from $948 in the second quarter of 2023 and a high of $988 in the first quarter of 2023.

CTOnews.com previously reported that CIRP believes that model combinations and storage upgrades are the main reasons for the decline in US-WARP, and Apple's pricing strategy has also led to the decline in WARP.

The percentage of sales of the newly launched iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max differs by several percentage points from the previous year's iPhone 14 release. At the other end of the market, the proportion of the oldest traditional phones remains the same.

The report argues that inflation has pushed up the prices of most products bought by US consumers, but Apple's pricing of the iPhone has not changed since 2020, and the last price adjustment for the Pro model dates back to 2017.

In addition to the economic pressure on American consumers, what is more important is that buyers' preferences have also changed and are no longer pursuing top-end iPhone models.
