CTOnews.com November 16, the Wireless Power Alliance (WPC) said that the next generation wireless charging standard Qi v2.0 will be launched soon, providing magnetic connection, faster charging speed, higher efficiency and greater convenience, not only enhancing the user experience, but also further unifying the global wireless charging standard.

WPC said the first Qi v2.0 certified products will be available during the Christmas shopping season. The first products are mainly for Apple's iPhone 15 series, including major accessory manufacturers such as Belkin, Mophie, Anker and Aircharge, all of which have warmed up their Qi2 products. At present, more than 100 devices are being tested or in the certification test queue.

WPC unveiled Qi v2.0 (pronounced "chee two") at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this year and won industry acclaim, including "Best Mobile Technology" and "Best presentation" awards from industry publications.

CTOnews.com Note: there are currently two configurations for the Qi v2.0 standard:

Magnetic Power profile (MPP): based on the MagSafe ®technology provided by Apple to WPC, with the Qi2 logo.

Enhance existing wireless charging extended power profile (EPP): does not include magnets, but complies with Qi v2.0 standard. The new Qi v2.0 EPP product will carry the existing Qi logo that consumers are familiar with and use today.

"We are pleased to see our members quickly embrace Qi v2.0 and build an ecosystem of accessories for Qi2 devices," said Fady Mishriki, chairman of the board of WPC. We fully hope to see Qi v2.0 quickly become the de facto global standard for wireless charging.
