According to CTOnews.com news on November 15, Airbus and SPIC today announced the signing of a letter of intent to cooperate in the fields of sustainable aviation fuel and renewable energy supply to build a modern industrial system and promote the sustainable development of the aviation industry.
According to reports, the two sides will try to cooperate in the key links of the whole industry chain, such as the new technology, production, certification and promotion of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF fuel), so as to build an SAF fuel industry chain that meets international standards and has the ability of sustainable development. The two sides will also actively explore multi-dimensional innovative applications in the field of renewable energy. Airbus aims to achieve 100% renewable energy power in all parks in China by 2030.
Xu Gang, Airbus global executive vice president and Airbus China CEO, signed a letter of intent on behalf of Airbus. Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury witnessed the signing of the agreement. Xu Gang said: "We are very pleased to be able to deepen cooperation with the State Investment Corporation and promote more Chinese partners to participate in building an ecosystem for the sustainable development of the aviation industry. Helping the global aviation industry achieve its net zero carbon emissions target by 2050 is Airbus's long-term strategy. In China, Airbus has achieved good initial results in the application of SAF fuel and renewable energy, and we will continue to promote the sustainable development of the industry, which is also Airbus's positive response to the Chinese government's' double carbon 'goal. "
CTOnews.com Note: sustainable aviation fuel is one of the main ways to achieve civil aviation emission reduction targets. Compared with conventional fossil fuels, SAF fuels generate an average of 80 per cent less carbon emissions from raw material collection to end-user use. At present, all Airbus aircraft have been certified and can use up to 50 per cent of SAF fuel mixed with aviation fuel. Airbus plans to achieve 100% SAF fuel flight certification for all aircraft products by 2030.
