Tesla insider revealed that the company is investing in research and development to find innovative "all-in-one die casting (megacast)" body bottom repair solution. Their goal is to develop efficient, cost-effective repair technologies that maintain the structural integrity of the vehicle.

Tesla is said to be working with Thatcham Research to "test the new bottom structure of electric car manufacturers".

On September 17 this year, Tesla's 5 million vehicle in the world went off the line at the Shanghai Super Factory. The new integrated die-casting technology is the key for Tesla to produce tens of millions of affordable electric vehicles and make a profit in the next decade.

The technology is also at the core of the "disassembly process" of Musk's latest car assembly system, which Musk announced in March. Tesla said that the new assembly method could reduce the production cost of electric vehicles by 50 per cent and reduce factory space by 40 per cent.
