Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

According to CTOnews.com news on November 15, Kaifu Lee, chairman and CEO of Innovation works, founded the AI big model startup "010 million things" this year. The company has launched two open source models, Yi-34B and Yi-6B, which claim to be completely open to academic research and open free commercial applications at the same time.

However, on Yi-34B 's Hugging Face open source home page, developer ehartford questioned that the model used Meta LLaMA's architecture and only changed the names of two tensors (Tensor), input_layernorm and post_attention_layernorm.

The company officially responded publicly yesterday when Richard Lin, director of the open source team of the company, admitted that it was inappropriate to change the name of the Llama tensor and would change the name of the modified tensor from Yi to LLaMA as suggested by the outside world.

Richard Lin claimed that the naming problem was caused by negligence on the part of the developer, who renamed the code several times to meet the experimental requirements. But the developer is sorry that the developer "forgot to change the name of the tensor back to LLaMA".

Richard Lin also invites developer ehartford to submit the PR with the above changes to rename the tensor name of Yi to conform to the Llama architecture.

However, as of the publication of CTOnews.com, another developer, JosephusCheung, claimed that now that the official announcement has been made to change the tensor name of the Yi model, the open source model Yi is a derivative of LLaMA, which clearly constitutes a license conflict because the reasoning part of the code and the model definition are both part of "LLaMA".

JosephusCheung claims that the terms relating to commercial use must be revised and that if the model has more than 700 million monthly active users, it must apply to Meta for a license. In addition, the clause that "ownership of the Yi series model and its associated intellectual property rights will only be held by licensor" will no longer be valid because the intellectual property rights of the model will be jointly owned by Meta, Yi and other companies. Richard Lin has not yet responded to this request.
