CTOnews.com The Peripheral Component Interconnect Special Interest Group (PCI-SIG) recently held its SC23 conference in Denver, naming the next generation of PCI Express cables CopprLink, and announced that it will launch a new PCIe 5.0/6.0 cable specification next year.

PCI-SIG PR representatives said that internal and external cable specifications for PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 6.0 are currently under development and are scheduled for release next year.

CTOnews.com Note: PCI-SIG previously introduced the 12VHPWR power connector specification, and there were issues such as burn-in on NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series graphics cards.

The PCI-SIG representative elaborated: "PCI-SIG announces that the new naming scheme for PCIe internal and external cables will be CopprLink™. PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 6.0 internal and external cable specifications are currently under development and are scheduled for release in 2024."
