CTOnews.com, November 14, IDC today released the Quarterly tracking report on the Global print Peripheral Market (third quarter of 2023), which mentioned that shipments of China's print peripherals market in the third quarter of this year were 3.697 million units, down 20.5 percent from the same period last year and 6.6 percent from the previous quarter:

CTOnews.com learned from the data disclosed by IDC that shipments of inkjet printers in the third quarter were 1.692 million, down 22.4% from a year earlier.

Shipments of laser printers were 1.715 million, down 16.3% from the same period last year.

Shipments of needle printers were 290000, down 30.9% from the same period last year.

IDC believes that the main problems leading to the decline in the domestic printing peripheral market are the global economic downturn, the downgrade of user consumption and the extension of the procurement cycle, resulting in a significant decline in procurement demand, and estimates that the relevant market will also face greater uncertainty in 2024.

However, due to the promotion of the first school season, ink cartridge printers and other peripherals still have some room for sale. sales of ink cartridge printers increased by 31.4% in the third quarter compared with the same period last year, but ink cartridge printers declined for two consecutive quarters compared with the same period last year.

With the increase of printers' household occupancy rate in China, printers have gradually become an important learning tool, while low-cost ink cartridge products are still the first choice for many first-time buyers.

Ink cartridge printers declined for the first quarter this year compared with the same period last year, which was smaller than that of ink cartridge printers. The proportion of ink cartridges is gradually increasing, and the proportion of ink cartridges is 50-50.

The price of entry-level ink cartridge printers continues to decline, and families with large printing volume of middle and high school students or families with replacement needs, considering the printing cost, they prefer to purchase ink cartridge printers.

As small and medium-sized enterprises are facing the pressure to reduce costs, ink cartridge printers with higher performance-to-price ratio are more popular. And because of the environmental advantages of inkjet printers, more ink cartridge printers have been included in the purchasing list of hospitals and schools.
