CTOnews.com, November 14, according to a report by foreign science and technology media The Verge, activists advocating maintenance rights have aimed at the next goal-parts matching, and Europe and the United States are considering introducing corresponding laws and regulations to limit the problem of parts matching.

The most typical example of part pairing is Apple's iPhone. If a user wants to replace a part, even parts removed from other authentic iPhone cannot be used without pairing.

CTOnews.com reported in September this year that the maintenance website iFixit issued a press release saying that due to Apple's increasingly stringent post-repair parts matching requirements, the iPhone 14 maintainability score was lowered from 7 to 4.

We gave the iPhone 14 a very good score last year because of its innovative maintenance-friendly architecture. However, most iPhone maintenance requires Apple's approval, and you have to buy parts through their system and then verify the maintenance through the chat system. The European Union is already considering banning pairing of parts. In the US, Guy Gordon Bourne, executive director of Repair.org, a maintenance advocacy group, says they have been working to add protection to every state law, including part matching restrictions.

Gordon-Bourne said she would like to see other states follow California's example and pass their own maintenance rights bills in the coming years.

This could mean covering devices subject to the latest laws, expanding software support in the long run, or limiting part pairing.
