In order to boost the user base of the platform in the short term, Meta decided that Threads can log in using the Instagram platform account, but this also means that if users log off the Threads social platform, they will also log off their Instagram platform account.

Now that Meta has changed this cancellation policy, Instagram's CEO Adam Mosseri claims that in the latest version of the iOS and Android platform Threads app, users can log off their Threads platform account separately without affecting their Instagram account.

It is reported that users can choose to "disable" and "delete" in the Threads app. If the user chooses to "disable" the profile, the platform will not delete the user's data. If the user chooses to return, all previous historical content will be restored; if the user chooses to "delete", Meta will delete all user content on the Threads platform, but will not delete the user's Instagram account.

This practice of Threads application can be seen as that the platform already has a certain user base and is gradually getting rid of the "multiple bindings" of Instagram, but the two applications should still be generally interdependent in the future.
