The processor was upgraded from the previous generation of Core 11 processors to the 12th generation of Incore i5-1235U.

The price is slightly higher than the previous generation, and without the "entry" version of 8GB+128GB, there are only two configurations left. The price of 8GB+256GB has gone from 5888 yuan to 6388 yuan, and the highest configuration is still 16GB+256GB. The price is 7988 yuan. The good news is that the hard disk can still be replaced by itself, with a specification of 2230.

So how about the actual experience of Surface Laptop Go 3, which is positioned as a "beginner" in the Surface camp, but the price is a little "light and extravagant"? CTOnews.com has now got the immortal tea green version, so let's share the hands-on experience.

First, the design as the orthodox blood of the Surface family, the appearance of Surface Laptop Go 3 is no different from that of the previous generation, and it is still simple and durable. The A side uses anodized alumina and has been sanded, and the mirror polished "Tian Brand" Logo is blessed to make the small and delicate fuselage feel full.

B side 12.4in PixelSense display, screen ratio at 3:2, four corners and the same as the previous generation made a slight fillet, visual harmony.

The top is equipped with a 720p front camera and a matrix far-field dual microphone, and the camera still does not support Windows Hello unlocking. The material of the palmrest of the C face is the same as that of the A face, and there is no opening on the whole face, which is very simple. The fingerprint identification button is integrated with the power key, which is located on the left side of the Del button.

The keyboard feels soft, but the key range has reached 1.3mm, the actual codeword experience is still very excellent, and the codeword is not easy to get tired for a long time.

2. The measured hardware information of Surface Laptop Go 3 is as follows:

On the screen side, the Surface Laptop Go 3 still uses one of the few 3:2 screens on the market, with a resolution of 1536 to 1024, a 10-touch touch and a brightness of 330 nits.

The advantage of this proportion of the screen is that it can display more vertical content during the office, such as editing documents and tables, browsing the web, etc., which is also in line with the positioning of this product, but in terms of audio-visual entertainment, this unusual ratio may lead to black edges up and down.

Judging from the parameters of the screen, the PPI of this screen is the same as that of the previous generation, still only 148. today, in 2023, the PPI is indeed a little stretched, and you can still feel grainy if you take a closer look. However, for the regular sight distance of the daily office, it can still satisfy the clear viewing experience.

In terms of color and brightness, CTOnews.com measured that the color gamut of this screen is 90.2% sRGB, the average deviation of color accuracy is 0.09, and the brightness reaches 326nits, which is still good.

On the processor side, the Surface Laptop Go 3 comes with 12-generation Core i5-1235U. I5-1235U uses 2 performance cores + 8 energy efficiency cores with a total of 12 threads, TDP 15W.

The single-core running score of CPU-Z is 513.2, and the multi-core running score is 2982.9. Compared with the previous generation, the multi-core running score increased by nearly 30%.

In the Cinebench R20 test, the score of single core was 432 and that of multi-core was 2105.

In the Cinebench R23 test, the score of single core was 1025 and that of multi-core was 3792.

CTOnews.com also conducted a "single bake" test on the i5-1235U on Surface Laptop Go 3, as shown in the following figure. After 20 minutes, the processor power consumption is about 9W, and the CPU temperature is about 65 ℃.

After 30 minutes, the power consumption of the processor is still about 10W, and the temperature is about 60 ℃. You can see that the power control brought by large and small cores is still good. As a lightweight book, Surface Laptop Go 3 has good stability in temperature control and performance release.

In terms of kernel display, Surface Laptop Go 3 still integrates Xe kernel display, with LPDDR5 memory. The measured "3D Mark" test Time Spy score is 1301, which is still competent for some lightweight graphics tasks.

In terms of actual game experience, CTOnews.com played a game of "League of Legends" with a resolution of 1536 × 1024 and the highest picture quality. It can reach about 120 frames in non-combat scenes, maintain about 100 frames in linear scenes, and basically stabilize the frame rate in group battles at about 70 frames.

In the "AIDA64" memory and cache test, Surface Laptop Go 3 had a memory read speed of 54461 MB/s, a write speed of 70915 MB/s, and a copy speed of 54177 MB/s. Among them, the writing speed is higher than that of the previous generation, reaching about 20%.

In terms of disk read and write speed, "CrystalDiskMark" measured that Surface Laptop Go 3 hard disk read speed is 3502.99MB/s, write speed is 2508.93 MB/s.

It is worth mentioning here that although the maximum official configuration is only the storage capacity of 256GB, the SSD of Surface Laptop Go 3 can be replaced by itself, with a specification of 2230. Combined with recent SSD prices, self-replacement and upgrade may be a good choice at a later stage. After all, 256G capacity is somewhat stretched for many users.

In "CrossMark", which tends to test office performance, Surface Laptop Go 3 scored an overall score of 1009, which is in line with the performance of the slim book.

CTOnews.com also tested the endurance performance of the Surface Laptop Go 3 through "PCMark 10". As shown in the figure below, in the "modern office" test scenario, when power-saving mode is turned on, the Surface Laptop Go 3 runs 4631 minutes and takes 12 hours and 42 minutes, an improvement of nearly an hour and a half over the previous generation, which is not bad for light business.

In terms of performance, it can be said that the multi-core performance is much better than that of the previous generation, and thanks to the design of the 12-generation Kerry core and the reduction of TDP, the battery life of the whole machine can also meet the daily use.

In conclusion: through the overall experience, Surface Laptop Go 3 continues the simplicity and texture of the Surface family, and inherits many of the excellent genes of the Surface family-the 3:2 screen, good keyboard feel and precise and silky trackpad. For a portable "entry" device that locates the mobile office, its performance is not short.

This new 1kg device, which is in the right proportion and can be easily opened and closed with one hand, still maintains the elegance and portability of the previous generation, and on this basis, the performance and battery life have been further improved.
