On November 10, the 2023 Digital Science and Technology Ecology Conference organized by China Telecom was officially held at Guangzhou Pazhou Guangzhou Canton Fair Hall. Among them, at the Satellite Mobile Communications Industry Development Forum, Hu Kaiwei, deputy general manager of ZTE's RAN product line, delivered a keynote speech on "Electric Beauty Dome, Infinite Communication", which not only expounded ZTE's vision of building an integrated three-dimensional network between satellite and earth to help better realize 5G-A, but also demonstrated ZTE's 5GNTN technology innovation achievements.

Hu Kaiwei pointed out in his speech that over the past four years of commercial use of 5G in China, 5G accounts for 60% of the world's users, which has promoted the all-round mathematical intelligence transformation of life, industry, and social economy, and led the development of 5G around the world. At present, we are entering the era of 5G-A, the integration of space, space, sea and earth is an important goal of 5G-A, focusing on the continuous expansion of business boundaries and coverage boundaries to achieve "ubiquitous connection, Wisdom of everything". As a breakthrough evolution technology in the field of satellite communications, NTN enables smart phones and Internet of things terminals to connect directly to satellites, opening the era of "consumer" satellite communications. Even in remote areas, rural areas, ocean and other scenarios, users can also use SMS, voice and data services. At the same time, it provides a strong communication guarantee for scenarios such as rescue and disaster relief. The development of mobile phone directly connected satellite will go through three stages. Stage 1, traditional satellite + dual-mode terminal, based on the way of terminal integration, makes satellite communication into mass smart phones to cultivate users' habits; stage 2, traditional satellite + fusion terminal adopts 5GNTN empty port integration mode, which brings terminal cost reduction and performance improvement, which is beneficial to the large-scale popularization of the market. Phase 3, the new satellite + fusion terminal, based on the 5GNTN renewable payload architecture, will advance the degree of integration from the terminal to the empty port all the way to the integration of the satellite and the base station, which will bring the full-dimensional improvement of coverage, capacity and experience. At present, it is also necessary to solve the challenges such as the scarcity of satellite orbit and frequency resources, the performance gap of space-based side, network information security, application exploration and so on.

ZTE Corporation has actively promoted the maturity of 5GNTN technology and industry, and has jointly completed the verification of China's first NR-NTN Leo satellite and the first domestic 5GIoT NTN mobile phone directly connected satellite. Currently, ZTE Corporation has conducted a series of landing tests of marine and emergency communications scenarios in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, and took the lead in completing the 5GNTN outfield tests of the industry's first sea area scenario, including marine water quality monitoring, ship supervision and environmental data monitoring, emergency communications and other scenario applications. In the future, NTN technology will be extended to a wider range of scene applications, including snow-capped mountains, deserts and uninhabited islands, which will bring more convenience to people's lives and strongly promote the construction of a digital society.
