CTOnews.com, November 12, the latest data show that Tesla's car is ahead of other brands in the number of US electric vehicle (EV) registrations in the first nine months of this year. Even in the increasingly competitive situation, Tesla's registration volume has increased compared with the same period last year.

According to Experian's vehicle registration data, Tesla Model Y and Model 3 are the two models with the highest number of registrations in the United States between January and September this year, far surpassing their competitors. In addition, electric vehicles accounted for 7.4 per cent of the total market during the period, compared with 5.2 per cent in the same period in 2022.

The data also suggest that if this momentum continues, 2023 could be the first year in which electric vehicle sales in the United States have exceeded 1 million.

By brand, Tesla registered 489454 electric vehicles in the US during the period, up 41 per cent from a year earlier, CTOnews.com notes. It was followed by Chevrolet (50160) and Ford (46547), which ranked second and third, respectively. The total number of electric vehicles registered from January to September was 852904, up 61 per cent from a year earlier.

The Model Y became the world's best-selling model in the first quarter of this year, and the SUV dominates several key electric vehicle markets.

Cox Automotive warned in a report last month that new models are being produced faster than consumers can afford, while automakers such as GM and Ford have slowed production plans for electric vehicles because of demand problems.

Tesla will launch his Cybertruck in the US later this month, but has not yet launched an upgraded version of Model 3 Highland in North America.
