CTOnews.com November 12 news, according to Reuters survey, SpaceX work environment has some problems. Since 2014, there have been more than 600 unreported injuries.

Reuters quoted current and former SpaceX employees as accusing CEO Elon Musk of setting aggressive deadlines and expressing an aversion to bureaucracy, saying his goal of "landing on Mars as soon as possible" led the company to take shortcuts and lack appropriate agreements.

Reuters found that the injury rate at the SpaceX plant was much higher than the industry average (0.8 injuries or illnesses per 100 workers).

For example, SpaceX averaged 4.8 injuries per 100 workers in 2022 at its Brownsville, Texas facility; 1.8 at its Hawthorne, California, manufacturing facility; and 2.7 injuries per 100 workers at McGregor, Texas, where the company conducts rocket testing.

Reuters pointed out that SpaceX has basically only paid insignificant fines for years due to security loopholes. For example, in 2014, a worker named Lonnie LeBlanc was blown off an improperly loaded truck trailer and died. After LeBlanc died, the company reached a settlement with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration for only $7000 (CTOnews.com note: currently about 51100 yuan).

One former SpaceX manager claimed that "workers are responsible for their own safety," while others said employees were even told not to wear brightly colored safety gear because Musk didn't like it.
