CTOnews.com, 11 / 11 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Apple unlocked the ability to shoot space videos to iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models in an update to iOS 17. 2 Beta 2 released yesterday.

Users can open the system's settings application, then enable it in the camera-> format application, and then open the camera application, and you can see a new button for recording space video.

It is worth noting that the space video currently filmed supports up to 1080P@30fps recording. Apple recommends using tripods and other auxiliary tools to shoot in a steady state, in order to get the best results in the Vision Pro head display.

Playing the captured video on iPhone is just a regular 2D video with no extra depth effect.

Apple has invited some media to record videos via iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max and watch them on Vision Pro headers. However, Apple still does not allow these media to share the multimedia content of these videos played by Vision Pro, only through text presentation.

TheStreet's Jacob Krol: maybe shooting space videos is as simple as Apple wants, and it feels as intuitive as shooting in another mode on iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max.

You change the phone horizontally to unlock the recording mode (indicated by the header icon) and see a horizontal line during shooting.

Horizontal views and horizontal lines are important because the jitter is further magnified when the user's video is played on the Vision Pro header.

Based on my experience, I caught a professional sushi chef making some standard sushi rolls and rice balls, and the chef lifted the final product. I approached slowly and hung the paper about a foot and a half in the air with chopsticks.

When I move around sushi and capture the chef in the background, iPhone does a great job of switching focus. If desired, you can also click manually to focus.

Scott Stein of CNET: the video looks great and 3D is very realistic. They are also easy to record and can be saved as video and played in 2D in a normal video format.

But in the end, the feature was made for 2024 products at a price of $3500, and it's safe to say that most people won't buy it anytime soon. Still, the experience is impressive.

Final Cut Pro, Apple's professional video editing app, will be updated next year to support editing spatial videos.
