CTOnews.com, Nov. 10 (Xinhua)-- US luxury car brand Lucid has launched a new feature "RangeXchange" for Air models, an innovative new car-to-car (V2V) adapter that will enable Lucid Air owners to charge other electric vehicles directly. This function is implemented by Lucid's two-way charging technology and proprietary software, which are built into each Lucid Air.

The RangeXchange feature is first available to American car owners and requires a separate purchase of the RangeXchange charger adapter, which is exclusively available later this month, and will be enabled through the OTA software update.

CTOnews.com noted that RangeXchange is the first time Lucid has applied Wunderbox two-way charging technology, which allows energy to flow out of the Lucid Air's battery pack and charge another electric vehicle at 9.6 kW, depending on the energy efficiency of other vehicles and typical environmental factors.

For most electric cars currently on the U. S. market, the charging power of 9.6 kW will increase the range of 24-40 miles per hour.
