CTOnews.com, Nov. 10 (Xinhua)-- another game developer has suffered layoffs, this time by Digital Extremes, which is known for developing the free action game Warframe.

At last year's game awards ceremony, Digital Extremes revealed that it was releasing Wayfinder, an online action game from Airship Syndicate, which released a pre-emptive trial version in August this year. According to PC Gamer, Digital Extremes is shutting down its distribution division and handing over control of Wayfinder to Airship Syndicate.

"We can confirm that we have made a difficult decision to stop the operation of the external project department," Digital Extremes said in an email. "as a result, we have to say goodbye to some hardworking and valuable team members, and we are working with Airship to hand over full control of Wayfinder to them in the coming months."

CTOnews.com noted that Digital Extremes had undergone a major organizational restructuring last month when founder James Schmaltz resigned as chief executive and was replaced by chief creative officer Steve Sinclair (Steve Sinclair), while Schmaltz remained on the board to provide "insight and guidance".

The Steam page shows that "Wayfinder" has a total of 15561 reviews, of which 46 per cent are praised and rated as "mixed". The game costs 131 yuan and does not support Chinese.
