CTOnews.com November 10 news, Micron recently released display memory (VRAM) roadmap, covering GDDR7 and HBM4E memory technology.

Meguiar's current GDDR6X display memory has a maximum operating bandwidth of 24Gbps, a capacity of 16Gb dies and a speed of 96GB/sec.

According to Meguiar's roadmap, the bandwidth of GDDR7 video memory in 2024 is 32Gbps, the capacity is 16-24Gb die, and the speed is 128GB; in addition, the faster GDDR7 video memory is introduced in 2026, the bandwidth is 36Gbps, the capacity is over 24Gb die, and the speed is 144GB/sec.

Nvidia's next-generation GeForce RTX 50 series is expected to use Meguiar's GDDR7 memory with 32Gbps bandwidth; the next-generation GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card should have a 512-bit memory bus with memory bandwidth up to 1.5TB / s due to GDDR7 memory speed. Micron will also launch 8-tier stacked AI and data center dedicated HBM3E memory in 2024 and 12-tier stacked HBM3E in late 2024 and early 2025.

HBM3E will provide up to 24GB capacity and more than 1.2TB / s memory bandwidth, while the newer 12-tier HBM3E memory bandwidth is also 1.2TB / s, but the capacity is expanded to 36GB.

After that, Meguiar will have the next generation of HBM4 memory on the 12-High and 16-High stacks, which will reach higher capacity from 36GB to 48GB and will exceed the 1.5TB / s memory bandwidth by the end of 2025.

By 2027, HBM4E will introduce 48GB to 64GB capacity in the 12-High and 16-High stacks, with memory bandwidth exceeding 2TB per second.
