Recently, at the sixth China International Import Expo, the innovative achievements of "Computing-Power Synergy" series of cooperation between Aliyun data Center and North China Electric Power University won the first prize of UNIDO Global Call 2023 Global Innovation Award. From the point of view of the collaborative relationship between the cloud data center and the power system, the achievement creatively realizes the power load flexibility through the data center computing time-space scheduling, so as to promote the consumption of renewable energy and help the industry carbon neutralization.

"UNIDO Global Call" is the flagship project of the global competition launched by the United Nations UNIDO UNIDO. This year's event focuses on the propositions of the times, sets up three tracks of green hydrogen energy, energy efficiency optimization and clean energy innovation, focuses on clean and smart energy and inclusive and sustainable industrial development, and looks for replicable and scalable solutions for clean energy and energy efficiency optimization technologies around the world. More than 300 teams from 60 countries around the world have been attracted to participate in the competition. after three rounds of competitions, the first, second and third prizes have been decided, among which the top three of each track have won the first prize in the world.

Computing-power collaborative dispatching technology is jointly developed by Aliyun data Center and North China Electric Power University. Based on the flexibility of computing load, the technology carries out time and space scheduling to optimize the power load of the data center. Under the guidance of the peak regulation signal of the power system, the innovation team transferred part of the computing load of Aliyun Nantong data center to Zhangbei data center to realize the first cross-regional "computing power-power" optimal dispatching experiment in China. This is also the first time in the industry to achieve collaborative dispatching of data centers and power systems with the goal of promoting renewable energy consumption, which plays an important role in reducing data center energy costs and carbon emissions and supporting green and inclusive computing output.

Wang Chaoyang, general manager of Aliyun's data center division, said, "this system rearranges and distributes computing tasks to times and places where renewable energy costs are optimal and more available, so as to promote the use of green energy. in the time scheduling practice scenario, this method is expected to reduce the power cost of the data center by 37% and the carbon emission cost by 14%."
