The new deal will make Tencent the exclusive seller of Meta headline Chinese mainland, providing an important new market for Meta as it hopes to boost tepid global demand for its niche devices, according to people familiar with the matter. Tencent will start selling Meta VR headlines at the end of 2024.

Meta will account for a higher proportion of device sales, while Tencent will account for a larger share of content and service revenue, such as software subscriptions and game sales, the report said.
