CTOnews.com November 10 news, Valve today launched the OLED version of the Steam Deck game console, so when will the second generation of Steam Deck arrive?

In an interview with Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, Valve product designer Lawrence Yang confirmed that Steam Deck 2 is being developed and that performance can be significantly improved by using "next-generation" chips, but Yang said it will not launch Steam Deck 2 for the next two or three years.

Yang did not reveal much about the Steam Deck 2 game handheld, but expressed the company's view of Steam Deck: "many colleagues are excited about the product, and we have invested a lot of manpower and resources."

CTOnews.com previously reported that Steam Deck engineer Pierre-Loup Griffais told The Verge that he hoped to see a leap in performance without a significant impact on battery life, and that Steam Deck 2 could not meet this standard until the end of 2025 or more. "I don't expect such a leap in the next few years," the engineer said in an email.

What is important to us is that Deck provides developers with fixed performance goals and the message to customers is simple-every Deck can play the same game. Therefore, we will not easily change the level of performance, and we will do so only if there is a significant improvement in performance.

Nor do we want to achieve higher performance at the expense of power efficiency and battery life. I don't expect such a leap in the next few years, but we are still keeping a close eye on innovation in architecture and manufacturing processes to keep abreast of progress.
