On November 6, just before the launch of the new car, SAIC held the second phase of "Zhijiahui" in Guangzhou, focusing on SAIC's new energy strategy and the relevant technical details of the DMH super hybrid system.
According to the strategic ambition data of hybrid "old drivers", from January to September this year, domestic plug-in hybrid vehicle sales approached 1.35 million, an increase of 68.2% over the same period last year, while domestic Zengji hybrid sold 394000 units, an increase of 164.5% over the same period last year. Hybrid cars are growing fiercely and have become a popular role in new energy vehicles, and SAIC's judgment is that plug-in hybrids and incremental hybrids, as the energy-saving upgrading route of traditional fuel-fueled vehicles, still have a lot of opportunities for development before 2030.
In fact, SAIC has been ploughing and settling for more than a decade in the field of mixing.
2010. SAIC launched the first mass-produced HPV Roewe 750 hybrid model, SAIC launched the first A-class PHEV Roewe E550 in 2014, and SAIC's first B-class PHEV Roewe E950 in 2016. They have sold nearly 500000 plug-in hybrid models over the past decade.
At the same time, in terms of technology, SAIC can achieve complete independent control in the hybrid field, from hardware to software. For example, SAIC won the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2017, when their plug-in hybrid technology was the first to win the second prize for national science and technology progress in China. In addition, SAIC-related technology has also won the first prize of science and technology in China's automotive industry. More importantly, SAIC has worked hard on engine and gearbox technology since its inception, and its autonomous engine has won awards such as the top ten engines in the country and the top ten transmissions in the world.
Strategically, SAIC announced the strategic goal of the new energy track in April this year, with sales of new energy vehicles reaching 3.5 million by 2025, of which the new energy of its own brands will account for 70%, an increase of 2.5 times over 2022 and an annual growth rate of 50%. It shows that the whole SAIC Group will basically realize the transformation from the old track to the new track in 2025.
At this event, Zu Xiangjie, vice president, chief engineer and president of the General Institute of Innovation Research and Development of SAIC, said:
"in the next decade, SAIC plug-in hybrid and incremental hybrid is an important part of SAIC new energy."

Therefore, Zu Xiangjie also said that in the next two years, SAIC will accelerate the launch of more than a dozen hybrid vehicle products, covering cars, SUV, MPV and other models.
In this context, SAIC has come up with a "new generation of DMH super hybrid system", which is SAIC's third-generation hybrid technology, which is the latest achievement they have achieved in the hybrid field for decades.
Technical strength of DMH Super Hybrid system at this Zhijiahui event, Qiu Jie, vice president of SAIC Innovation Research and Development Institute, introduced the relevant technical details of DMH super hybrid system to the media in detail. Generally speaking, the DMH super hybrid system has three major technical features:
The first is modularization, that is, the system matches PHEV / EREV / HEV and other solutions, covering different customer driving needs and regulatory requirements around the world.
The second is integration, including the industry's first hybrid control brain PICU, which makes the vehicle network load lower, the system operation faster and the dynamic response more fierce.
The third is exclusive, platform hybrid exclusive high-efficiency engine, the highest thermal efficiency > 43%, the fuel consumption level will be significantly better than the existing competitive products, and the maintenance cost will be lower.
Qiu Jie, vice president of SAIC Innovation Research and Development Institute, focuses on the five-in-one PICU power domain integrated controller, which is the power brain of the entire system developed by SAIC in six years, focusing on engine control, gearbox control, as well as hybrid control and thermal management control, including air conditioning control.
In addition to PICU, there are other key technical concerns about the super hybrid system around the Roewe D7 DMH. The first is the battery, the Roewe D7 DMH is equipped with a 21.4kW battery to achieve a range of more than 100km, which is a very important inductive competitiveness.
Secondly, the discharge multiple of 21.4kW is the discharge rate of 6C, which means that the whole discharge is technically consistent with the performance of the whole vehicle.
The third point is that SAIC has developed engines with more than 43% thermal efficiency on its own engines. At the same time, SAIC is already studying the next-generation hybrid synchronously, with a thermal efficiency of more than 47%. The advantage of this is that the fuel consumption of the whole vehicle is lower than that of the previous car, and in the preliminary bid test, the fuel consumption of the upper car is 10% less than that of the competitor.
In terms of engine, SAIC also achieved a difficult breakthrough, that is, the NVH engine control unit. In the Ron DMH super hybrid system, SAIC greatly improved the operation speed of NVH, thus bringing the improvement of power performance. It has a three-core control architecture, and control is carried out between the main core and two auxiliary cores. At the same time, all calculations are completed in a single MCU, and redundancy can also be very close. At the same time, the operation speed has been increased by 50%, which also improves the efficiency of the whole system.
The fourth point is the motor of P1 and P3. SAIC adopts the coaxial structure of engine and P1 motor, which brings the benefit of perceptual mute on the one hand and greatly improves the transmission efficiency on the other hand.
On the whole, the DMH super hybrid system is not original in architecture, and its main advantage lies in the polishing of technical details, resulting in a quieter and smoother driving experience, that is, SAIC emphasizes the "electrification". Just like the Roewe D7 DMH, most of the time you will not feel that you are driving an oil car, but you will have the experience of driving a streetcar, and the coaxial structure of the engine and P1 motor makes the noise lower. For example, during the intervention of the engine running at a loss of power, the whole noise growth under the control of NVH is increased by only one dB point, which is the experience of using technology to create inductance.
Roewe D7 DMH, the potential of the "national car" in the electric hybrid era, SAIC said that the current realization of hybrid products is changing from a vehicle platform based on "oil to electricity" to a vehicle platform based on "electric mixing". Behind this is the change from the product stage which is mainly aimed at reducing fuel consumption to the super hybrid product stage that pays more attention to user experience. While the Roewe D7 is in a comprehensive electric drive era, when many domestic car factories are still changing from oil to electricity, the Roewe D7 DMH has adopted a brand-new structure.
In terms of design, the Roewe D7 DMH brings a new design concept, and its design language is different from that before. This is because SAIC makes it clear that Roewe is a household car and a mainstream family car.
In terms of fuel consumption, the Roewe D7 DMH won the best 4.61L of plug-in hybrid energy consumption and a comprehensive mileage of 1400km in the October extreme challenge between Sinochem and the Kunming testing Center of China Automotive Research.
In terms of experience, as mentioned earlier, the Roewe D7 DMH will make you feel like you are driving a streetcar, not an oil car.
All these are the advantages of DMH super hybrid system.
