Shulou(Shulou.com)11/24 Report--

Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen SpongeBob for the clues picked up and delivered! CTOnews.com, November 9 (Xinhua)-- in a report released today, market research firm Counterpoint pointed out that global smartphone revenue in the third quarter of 2023 was flat year-on-year, up 15% from a month earlier, slightly more than $100 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 728 billion yuan), of which Apple's revenue and revenue share reached a record high for the quarter.

According to reports, Apple accounted for 43% of global smartphone revenue in that quarter. Compared with the previous generation of models (the iPhone 14 series) in the same period last year, Apple's iPhone 15 series went on sale a week earlier this year, which is one of the "important reasons" why Apple's revenue share hit an all-time high in the quarter.

Harmeet Singh, a senior analyst at Counterpoint, pointed out that among the iPhone 15 series phones, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is the best-selling model. However, due to the recovery of Huawei and Glory, and the growing concern of Chinese manufacturers such as Xiaomi and OPPO about the company's profitability, Apple's share of global smartphone operating profits is flat compared with the previous year. The record high operating profit of global smartphones shows more clearly that the smartphone market has adapted to the trend of declining shipments.

In addition, the average sales price of Samsung phones rose 4% year-on-year in the quarter, which the report said was due to the successful launch of Fold 5, the continued momentum of sales of the S23 series, and the increase in the share of flagship products in major product lines. However, Samsung's shipments fell 8 per cent over the same period, offsetting the increase in average sales prices and causing Samsung's revenue to fall 4 per cent year-on-year.

At the same time, Xiaomi is the only top five smartphone brand with year-on-year growth in shipments in that quarter. This is due to the fact that it has strengthened its position in key markets such as China and India, providing more affordable mid-range products to influence retailers and consumers at promotional prices, and strong sales of the Redmi K and Note series have also played a positive role. According to the analysis of the report, Xiaomi has achieved continuous growth in revenue and operating profit, not only outstanding quarterly growth, but also considerable annual growth.

While OPPO made a profit by selling phones with higher average prices, it slowed the expansion of markets outside China, India and other places, leading to a year-on-year decline in shipments, with smartphone revenue in the first three quarters of this year at its lowest level since the outbreak. In addition, vivo's promotion in China is not as strong as that of Glory and Xiaomi, and it is currently facing a "severe test": revenue in the quarter fell 12% from a year earlier, almost half of what it was in the third quarter of 2021.
