CTOnews.com news on November 9, in June this year, Tesla CEO Elon Musk met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but did not release details. It was also reported on Monday that the Indian government plans to approve Tesla's factory project in India by January next year.

Existing sources told Reuters that Musk will meet with Indian Commerce Minister Pius Goyar in the United States next week to agree on potential terms for the company's entry into the Indian market.

Tuyuan Pexels said their discussions would focus on the construction of Tesla's plant in India, which will produce $24000 worth of electric cars for India (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 175000 yuan). In addition, Tesla also plans to purchase more parts in India and lay out charging infrastructure across the country.

In addition, Mr Musk and Mr Goyar will also discuss a new policy being developed by India that will allow carmakers to reduce import tariffs on their vehicles from 100 per cent to 15 per cent, provided they are committed to partial local manufacturing.

In fact, Tesla has been trying to enter the Indian market since 2021, but India requires the company to make it locally because a 100 per cent import tax on electric vehicles has not been agreed.

Tesla has been in talks with India for months, and the US carmaker is willing to build a factory but is more eager to lower import taxes on its cars, according to sources.

A third source said Prime Minister Modi's office held a meeting with ministries on Monday to speed up the implementation of the new electric vehicle policy.

He added that the government was also analyzing the possible impact of the new policy on the Indian electric car market, as local carmakers often said that lower import taxes on electric vehicles could disrupt the market.
