Microsoft currently promotes Office Productivity Suite mainly in a subscription model, but for many users and enterprises, they prefer a permanent licensed version. The latest news confirms that Microsoft will launch a new permanent licensed version in the form of Office 2024 next year.

According to the report, Microsoft is currently testing Office 2024 on the DevMain branch, which mainly invites Microsoft internal employees to test upcoming software products.

The report says this special build of Office 2024 is not much different from the latest Office 2021. CTOnews.com note: the media also shared a way to download Office 2024, but this requires some technical skills and will use two third-party open source project software, which is not recommended for ordinary users.

The first tool is called "Yet Another Office Click To Run URL Generator" (or YAOCTRU for short), while the second tool is called "Yet Another Office Click To Run Installer" (aka YAOCTRI).

The operation procedure attached by CTOnews.com is as follows:

1. Visit GitHub to download the latest version of the YAOCTRU zip file, the latest version 9.0

3. Select the DevMain channel from the menu, and then select the architecture (32-bit / 64-bit), language, and Office source components of the installation package.

5. Open the generated script / URL list to download the preview version of Office 2024. Note that Windows 11 and Windows 10 versions 1803 or later come with an out-of-the-box curl executable. Therefore, you can use curl to download the script as is, without installing anything else.

6. After downloading the source file, download the YAOCTRI zip file from the GitHub page, the latest version is v10.7.

7. Extract the contents of the archive and move Reference-C2R_Config.ini, YAOCTRI_Configurator.cmd, and YAOCTRI_Installer.cmd to the folder where you downloaded the Office component.

8. Right-click the YAOCTRI_Configurator.cmd file and run it as an administrator. It should automatically detect Office installation files.

9. At the product selection prompt, make sure that the Office 2024 option is selected

10. If all goes well, the script will help you deploy the configuration data and install the suite. Select install now to start the wizard.

11. After successfully installing Office, open any Office applications and go to File = > Account to view the Office 2024 brand.
