On November 3, the third plenary meeting of China Optical Valley Multi-modal Artificial Intelligence Conference and Multi-modal Artificial Intelligence Industry Consortium was successfully concluded in China Optical Valley. With the theme of "Building a New Ecology of Artificial Intelligence Industry," the conference aims to build an open, collaborative and innovative platform to promote the development and application of multi-modal technology.

This conference was co-sponsored by Wuhan East Lake New Technology Development Zone Management Committee, Institute of Automation of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wuhan City Science and Technology Bureau, Wuhan City Economic and Information Bureau, Wuhan Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, Wuhan Artificial Intelligence Computing Center, Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. and Wuhan Changjiang Computing Technology Co., Ltd., and co-sponsored by Shengsi MindSpore Open Source Community. At the meeting site, more than 100 consortium units from relevant provincial and municipal units, experts and scholars, and all walks of life gathered together to discuss the new development of multi-modal industry.

Guide the development direction from a strategic height

At the beginning of the conference, Du Haiyang, member of the Standing Committee of Wuhan Municipal Committee and secretary of the Party Working Committee of Donghu High-tech Zone, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the Administrative Committee of Donghu New Technology Development Zone.

He pointed out that the current artificial intelligence has become an important driving force for the leapfrog development of science and technology, industrial optimization and upgrading, and productivity leap. Accelerating the development of a new generation of artificial intelligence is an important topic to seize the opportunities of a new generation of scientific and technological revolution and industry.

He said that in recent years, Donghu High-tech Zone has accelerated the planning and construction of Wuhan New Town, strived to push China Optical Valley towards the World Optical Valley, focused on building a world-class scientific and technological innovation policy highland, and explored the establishment of an operation-oriented scientific and technological innovation construction system. In the future, we will continue to increase investment in technological breakthrough and scientific research transformation, further optimize innovation ecology and enhance innovation ability. At the same time, the multi-modal artificial intelligence industry consortium is encouraged to further integrate around the large model of "Zidong Taichu," expand the application scenario of general artificial intelligence, and promote the local transformation of multi-modal industrial applications in Optical Valley.

Xu Bo, director of Institute of Automation of Chinese Academy of Sciences and chief scientist of Wuhan Institute of Artificial Intelligence, said in his speech at the conference that artificial intelligence, as the first goose technology leading industrial development and social change, has always been the commanding height of international scientific and technological innovation and industrial development competition. In today's complex and changeable international situation, complex technologies represented by artificial intelligence are facing unprecedented challenges.

Under the current international situation, we should deeply realize the profound connotation of "core technology is not to buy, ask for or not to come" put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping. We should insist on developing a large model with full stack autonomy and control, win the technical battle, and solve the problems of core devices and key technologies such as "neck jam".

It is hoped that the multi-modal consortium will further strengthen its coordination ability, focus on solving major strategic and common technical problems in the field of artificial intelligence, rapidly improve talent cultivation and academic exchanges, actively cultivate scientific and technological innovation activities in cooperation with consortium units, accelerate the industrialization of the multi-modal large model of "Zidong Taichu," work together to promote the development of enterprises in all walks of life.

Later, Jiao Licheng, a foreign academician of the European Academy of Humanities and Natural Sciences, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Transformation of the Next Generation Artificial Intelligence Enabling Industry". Discuss the opportunities and challenges of future artificial intelligence development from the aspects of new round of technological innovation and industrial revolution, and the next breakthrough point of artificial intelligence technology.

Create a new height of industrial intelligence

In order to promote the deep integration of digital technology and industry applications, it provides more advanced new generation artificial intelligence solutions to assist industrial upgrading and development. Wuhan Artificial Intelligence Research Institute builds a full-stack localized Zidong Taichu large model open service platform based on Zidong Taichu full-modal large model. At present, it has assisted many industry models such as smart city, wisdom, intelligent logistics and intelligent government affairs to land.

The conference site was presided over by Wang Jinqiao, president of Wuhan Artificial Intelligence Research Institute. The artificial intelligence open service platform and typical application scenarios of "Purple East Taichu" were officially released. President Wang comprehensively introduced the upgrading of the large model of "Zidong Taichu": the large model has innovative breakthroughs in image understanding, reasoning and question-and-answer ability; the six language capabilities are continuously optimized to enrich the plug-in ecology of the large model; focus on multi-modal generative AI to incubate more innovative creative applications; at the same time, the large model open service platform can support rich product matrix.

Subsequently, under the witness of representatives from computing centers all over the country, the "Purple East Taichu" artificial intelligence open service platform was officially released.

At present, the artificial intelligence open service platform of "Zidong Taichu" has been successfully applied to more than 10 fields such as intelligent manufacturing, intelligent cultural tourism, intelligent education, wisdom, etc., forming large-scale application landing and continuously creating industry vertical model. At the meeting site, witnessed by President Wang and guests on site,"Zidong Taichu_Firestone Digital Flint Big Model" and "Zidong Taichu_Innovation and Innovation Education Industry Model ForClass AIGC" were officially released.

In addition, representatives of Jiuzhou Tong Equipment Group, Central China Normal University, Huagong Science and Technology, etc., members of the consortium, respectively started from the actual scene and brought the industrial application sharing of multi-modal large model in wisdom, intelligent education, intelligent manufacturing, etc. to the conference.

During the conference, witnessed by the guests, the National Innovation Demonstration Base of Institute of Automation of Chinese Academy of Sciences was officially settled in Optical Valley. At the same time, Wuhan Institute of Artificial Intelligence officially released the "Ten Double-Creation Articles" to incubate high-quality double-innovation enterprises and contribute to the high-quality development of Wuhan artificial intelligence industry.

Wuhan Institute of Artificial Intelligence gives full play to the role of platform bridge and link, integrates resources of universities, enterprises and industries, devotes itself to the deep integration of production, learning and research, promotes knowledge sharing, technological innovation and talent cultivation, enhances the innovation ability and technical level of enterprises, enhances the ability of universities to serve local economic and social development, and provides stronger talent support and intellectual support for Hubei construction.

At this conference, a total of 7 new governing units of multi-modal artificial intelligence industry consortium and 24 new member units were awarded. Since the establishment of the multi-modal consortium in December 2021, more than 100 units and enterprises have been admitted for six consecutive years.

Since the establishment of the multi-modal artificial intelligence industry consortium, each consortium member unit has carried out integration and innovation of its own business based on the "Zidong Taichu" large model, and has successively hatched a series of scene-based industry applications, fully demonstrating the industrial value of the artificial intelligence large model.

In the future, Wuhan Institute of Artificial Intelligence will continue to follow the development policy of "based in Wuhan, radiating Hubei and serving the whole country". Based on the research of Zidong Taichu multi-modal artificial intelligence model, it will build an artificial intelligence innovation platform and industrial demonstration highland with common technologies in general fields as the core, form artificial intelligence application achievements and technical patents with international advanced level, and devote itself to realizing the localization of basic software and hardware and high-end equipment of independent controllable artificial intelligence.
