CTOnews.com November 8 news, Intel CEO Pat Kissinger said on the company's earnings call that it has begun to ship "Meteor Lake" processors to PC manufacturers, which was officially launched on December 14.

According to Nikkei News, Intel was the first to publicly display three notebook computers with Core Ultra processors in Taiwan today, made by Acer, Asustek and MSI, but the exact models and parameters of the relevant Core Ultra processors in the three notebooks are not known.

It is reported that Intel claimed that the three notebooks were "AI PC", and the staff mainly demonstrated the AI capabilities of these notebooks at the scene, including image magnification, text graphics, coding, and so on.

Intel uses Acer's "AI PC" to carry out the text test, and the staff installs the open source drawing software GIMP on the device, and uses OpenVINO's AI plug-in to add the function of Stable Diffusion to this software. after outputting the original resolution of the 512x512 image, the staff uses another AI model to quickly enlarge the picture to 2048x2048, thus emphasizing the speed advantage of "AI PC" in literary graphics and enlarged images.

The staff also used the Llama 2 language model with 7 billion parameters for inference to emphasize the memory bandwidth inference advantage of Core Ultra. The staff demonstrated functions such as "answering questions and generating code", and claimed that because the relevant large language model was "run locally offline" directly in the notebook, it could be used freely in any scenario.

However, the core Ultra "AI PC" notebook shown by Asustek does not use NPU to run the Llama 2 model, but only GPU to do the relevant work. Intel claims that Asustek and Intel are continuing to optimize the Llama 2 model and that "NPU can also be used to run related models in the future."

In addition, CTOnews.com noted that Acer and Asustek also showed AI applications such as an "image generation model" and a "character center" function similar to Apple's front camera.

In the demonstration, MSI highlighted the editing function of its own Core Ultra "AI PC" notebook. MSI, such as using Wondershare Filmora video editing software, added special effects and AI background images to a batch of 4K videos, claiming that "the process all called the chip's NPU."
